10 Dec Behind the Scenes: Meet Tom!
Brief Introduction
I was born in Melbourne and moved to Sydney in 1997. I started working with Phonenomena right out of high school and have been employed by them multiple times as they have been absolutely fantastic in supporting me in the work I do in the Philippines.
Blackberry, Windows, Android or Apple?
At the moment you could call me an Apple fan, using both an iPhone and a MacBook Pro. I grew up using windows and loved the hardware modification possibilities. Having not to worry about upkeep while overseas has been the biggest push for a change to Apple.
5 Things I Can’t Live Without
I’m not sure I can think of five things but some things that are incredibly important to me are:
- My family and friends who constantly support me and are there to help whenever I need them in Australia and overseas.
- My laptop that keeps me connected with people all around the world and in direct Skype contact with the family and children that I work with in the Philippines
- The Qantas aeroplanes that keep me going back and forth between my two homes
Interests
My main interest is the work I do in the Philippines. I am the Founder and Executive Director of the Make a Change Foundation, which is a Non-Profit organization that aims to protect and care for the neglected, abused and abandoned children of the Philippines. Our main goal is to raise $60,000 so that we are able to open a safe home in 2013 for the abused and abandoned children of the Philippines while also developing their homes and communities.
What I Enjoy Most About Working Here At Phonenomena
As mentioned above, it has been absolutely fantastic in supporting my work overseas and has constantly been there with a job available when I get home. It’s a great office to work in and I’ve watched it change over the past four years.
