13 Jul How To: Set Default Apps in Android
How do you open files on your Android device?
When opening files are you constantly prompted to select which app to use? Do you find you want to set which app is used to open a certain file.
You can set the default app for opening a file by following these simple steps.
To Reset Defaults
When you select a file to open, either from an email attachment or from a folder on your phone, you will be prompted to choose an app to open the file. If the file opens immediately without prompting you then the app is the default app for that file type.
To reset the default app setting for that file type, head to Settings > Apps > and select the app in question.
Scroll down and select Clear defaults. This will now clear all of the file types associated with that app.
To Set Defaults
You may want to set a file type to always open in a particular app.
To set a default app, open the file and you will be prompted to choose the app for opening. There is the option to Always open or open Just Once.
Select Always if you would like to set the app as the default app to open this file type.
