25 Nov iPhone 5, 5S & 5C Now Automatically Unlocked With Telstra
Telstra have announced via a blog post that all Telstra customers purchasing an iPhone 5, 5S or 5C will now receive a device that is unlocked and available to be used with other SIM cards.
Previously, when a user went overseas they had to ensure they asked for their device to be unlocked in order to use another SIM card. This proved to be a pain point for many, particularly as the unlocking process could take a couple of days to complete.
Upon the launch of the iPhone 5S and 5C, Telstra worked with Apple to ensure that they could sell the handsets already unlocked, to make it easier for users to use their device overseas. Since then, Telstra has approached Apple again to extend the same to all iPhone 5 models. So, all iPhone 5 models whether new or bought previously will be unlocked automatically.
This means, that now when users head overseas with their iPhone 5, 5S or 5C, they can simply pop in a new SIM, verify your iTunes details and start using the device. No unlocking required! Easy!
For owners of an iPhone 4S and previous models, unfortunately you will still need to request to have the device unlocked.
