New from Samsung is the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. With a move to metal, these two smartphones are turning heads and luring new fans to the Samsung band wagon.
Brand new construction, enhanced security and wireless charging is just the beginning to this list of impressive new features.
What’s New in the S6 and S6 Edge?
A welcomed move is the change of body, shifting from plastic construction to aluminium and glass. There is also the addition of wireless charging and coloured notifications (on the S6 Edge).
Both models have a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera, and apart from the S6 Edge having curved sides, are very similar in features.
Through the use of Near-Field Communications Samsung Pay allows the S6 and S6 Edge to function as a payment device at over 30 million terminals worldwide. This is facilitated through the fingerprint scanner on the home button.
A convenient change for Galaxy users is that the fingerprint scanner now also activates without having to swipe the screen.

Shift to Aluminium
Samsung have shifted from the earlier plastic handsets, instead opting for metal and glass. The frame is built from aluminium and the front and back covered by Gorilla Glass 4.
Wireless Charging
By placing the S6 and S6 Edge onto a wireless charging station a 20 percent charge can be completed in approximately 30 minutes. Both Samsung and third-party chargers can be used. The two main wireless charging standards, WPC and PMA, are supported by the handsets.
Curved Edge and Colour Notifications
A curved screen on the S6 Edge provides a readable display on the two longest edges. As required this can display alerts and notifications from other apps. The edge can be configured to light up when the phone is facing down, allowing you to keep an eye on your notifications. This is a pretty handy feature when you’re in meetings.
Enhanced Security
Both handsets come with a finger print scanner on the home button and built in malware protection.
