Google Helps Android Users Find Lost Phones With Android Device Manager

Losing your phone or having it stolen is never a great experience. You want to find it as soon as possible to make sure it and your personal data doesn’t get into the wrong hands.

While the Google Play store offers a wide range of apps to locate your phone when stolen, Google have announced a new native feature of the Android operating system to help its customers called Android Device Manager. This service offers several different methods for dealing with a lost phone, helping you get it back and keep personal data safe from prying eyes.

Most of us, when we happen to misplace our phone, play a game of marco polo, ringing and following the sound of the phone. This is great if, by chance, your phone was unmuted, but if it’s on Silent, you’re going have to a tough time trying to find it. Here’s where the Android device Manager steps in. It allows you to quickly ring your phone at maximum volume, overriding the Silent profile if that is active.

That’s great, but what if you’ve left it in the car, at a friends place or it’s been stolen? Chances are you won’t hear it ring, but to account for that the Device Manager lets you locate your phone on a map in real time.Google Announces Feature To Locate lost Phones

In addition to helping you find your phone, the Android Device Manager also helps you keep your data safe. If your phone has been stolen or lost forever, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device so no sensitive personal information can be accessed.

Google have stated that this service will be available later this month for devices running Android 2.2 or above. You will need to be signed in to your Google Account to use it, and it will be accompanied by an app to enable you to easily find and manage multiple devices.
