iOS 6: The Features Australia Missed Out On

iOS 6 has finally been released, and as many of you have upgraded already might know, not all of the features revealed by Apple at the unveiling of iOS 6 are available in Australia.

The company has published an iOS 6 availability list by region, as many features of the new operating system are not available in every country across the globe.

The good news is, of the 25 listed major features of iOS 6, Aussie users will get 19 of them from launch. They include:

However, turn-by-turn in Maps and Directions in Siri should be available for Australian iOS 6 users sometime in October. It is uncertain whether the rest of the excluded features will remain so, with Apple revealing nothing about if or when these features will be available here.

Those of you who have upgraded to iOS 6 and are having trouble navigating the new OS, or if you just want to learn more about iOS6, Apple have released a handy, free guidebook via iBooks. The iPhone User Guide for iOS 6, comes packaged as a 153-page e-book detailing all of the features of the new OS including Music, Mail, Clock, Siri and Passbook. While the book is geared for the iPhone, those with iPads and iPod Touches running iOS 6 can also get some valuable information from the book.

Whether you’re new to iDevices or you’re an experienced iOS user, the book will shed some helpful light on how to use the new OS to its full potential. If Apple follows its previous pattern, we should also see additional e-books focused on iOS 6 for the iPad and for the iPod Touch.
